Pearl earrings with large cultured freshwater white baroque 'Kasumi' pearl studs on gold
Cultured freshwater natural (not dyed) white baroque button 'Kasumi' pearl (A-AA grade, approximately 14mm wide x 10mm deep) stud earrings on hypoallergenic 24 Carat gold plated surgical steel posts and 'butterfly' backs.
Known as a 'Kasumi' pearl, this distinctive pearl has been grown in the lakes of South China Sea islands since the famous Japanese Lake Kasumi pearl became extinct in the 1980's. A-AA grade: very good shape, natural colour and lustre, with thick durable nacre (surface). Please study the photographs; baroque pearls, while often large have a mildly furrowed or 'rippled' surface and are rarely entirely uniform in shape. These characteristics are their charm.
24 Carat gold is 99.9% pure. Gold that is less than 24 Carat is an alloy and it is the other metals in the alloy that usually cause allergic reactions to gold earrings. Known as 'heavy gold plating', 24 Carat gold is used as a plating on 316L surgical steel to a minimum depth of two microns. In stud earrings this has the advantages of being suitable for most sensitive ears, very strong, inexpensive and looking great.
All metal butterflies can loosen over time but gently squeezing the loops together before you put them on your earrings can help to keep them tight. I add simple rubber backs for additional security should you find these helpful.
