ABOUT ME

I am an independent designer-maker of luxury handmade Murano glass, crystal and gemstone jewellery. Trading as Diana Ingram™ I design and make jewellery in my studio near Bath, England. I specialise in designing and making bespoke necklaces, bracelets and earrings fashioned in the latest, must have styles.

I offer a personal and bespoke service and full range of products which are exclusive: they are designed and made by me; have significant elements of handcrafted individuality; are original and authentic; and are not mass produced. My jewellery comprises the finest handpicked beads direct from furnaces scattered across the historic island of Murano in Venice Italy, significant crystals and other gemstones sourced worldwide, high quality cultured seawater and freshwater pearls from farms across the coastlines and islands of the South [China] Sea, Swarovski© crystals from Austria, and precious metal findings including 22 Carat gold and 925 Sterling Silver from Birmingham, England.

My unique designs are inspired by seasonal colour and fashion as well as themes such as countryside, woodland, cottage garden, wildlife, physical and spiritual health, and well-being.

My jewellery is suitable for teenagers as well as adults, and for children from age five for special occasions and as keepsakes. I welcome custom orders for anniversaries, birthdays, weddings, and other special occasions such as Valentine's Day and Mothers' Day. Most products can be altered for style, colour and length.

Each item is gift-wrapped inside a luxury handmade paper box with a Certificate of Authenticity for Murano glass. There is no price indicator inside the gift-wrapped box, only on the packing slip. A gift message option is available to include in the shipment which replaces the packing slip (so no price shown at all). Please contact me or leave a message with your order.

DEFINITIONS & MEASUREMENTS

Murano glass beads, crystals and other gemstones often have a distinctive style. Sizes can vary and so to can colour due to the depth of the metal foil in glass beads or the organic nature of gemstones. Every effort is made to match beads and gemstones where reasonably expected e.g., in a pair of earrings or a set, but if two pairs of small heart earrings are ordered, each pair may not, for example, be exactly the same (though I will try). Descriptions include bead measurements which are indicative to a tolerance of +/-1mm. The following size guide terminology is also used:

'Mini' refers to beads or gemstones 8 or 10mm wide or as specified

'Small' refers to beads or gemstones 13 or 14mm wide or as specified

'Medium' refers to beads or gemstones 18 or 20mm wide or as specified

'Large' refers to beads or gemstones 25 or 28mm wide or as specified

      HOW MY PRODUCTS ARE MADE

Murano glass beads are individually and expertly woven in front of flame by lampworkers in furnaces scattered across the island of Murano near Venice, Italy using world-renowned Moretti crystal (aka Murano Glass), an exclusive crystal to Murano that has been evolving from at least 1291. It is a leading crystal in Venice and hence the world. The skilful use of precious metal foil or leaf (24 Carat gold, white gold and 925 Sterling Silver) and the mineral aventurine, provide stunning depth and lustre to an infinite range of styles and designs. Due to the handmade nature of each bead what may at first be perceived as an imperfection (such as exposed foil) is in fact considered acceptable by the master lampworkers and in keeping with the handmade nature, character and charm of the item. In order to keep things simple among many styles of Murano glass beads I differentiate between four types: metal foil (interior) or leaf (exterior) beads, 'pastel' (opaque) beads and translucent beads.

Gemstones including crystals and other semi-precious stones are beautiful and fascinating, each with its own history and mystical properties. A gemstone is a mineral that can be carved, polished and cut to create jewellery. Diamond, ruby, emerald and sapphire are precious, while other gemstones fit into the semi-precious category although they are all as beautiful as each other. When choosing gemstones the eye catching colour is the most notable physical feature. Each crystal has a unique crystalline structure and how this interacts with light determines the optical properties and its colour. It is this uniqueness and the organic nature of crystals that makes them so precious. There are also many traditions associated with gemstones and I have added a synopsis of the mystical properties for each. A simple Internet search uncovers so much more. My gemstones are set in 925 Sterling Silver or gold filled (22 Carat gold filled with 925 Sterling Silver) with matching 925 Sterling Silver or gold filled Shepherds hook ear wires or fine cable chains.

My cultured seawater and freshwater pearls are farmed across the coastlines and islands of the South [China] Sea. All pearls are carefully selected for quality by me and painstaking effort goes into matching.

I also use genuine Swarovski© crystals from Austria.

      CLEANING

Use a damp cloth then silver cloth when dry. Equally good for glass, crystals and precious metals. Never use liquids other than water. Water must be used sparingly and the item properly dried.
